Excel based pricing tools also suffer from lack of workflow automation, data analytics, and continuous integration with other company systems. Offsetting this is 1) you can build automated exports in Excel to feed systems that do this for you (e.g., your project management tool, CRM, finance system, etc.), and 2) I've yet to seen a web based pricing tool / CPQ handles these integrations/automations well either.
