Fortunately, most pricing tools at least try to estimate profitability. Unfortunately, most do so incorrectly. What has surprised me the most, however over 2+ as an independent pricing consultant, is this- companies usually know their estimates are wrong and/or outdated, but don't fix or update them.
This is first and foremost a failure of financial governance.
