Critical items I find companies are often missing or misusing in their cost rate calculations:

  • bonus eligibility per role

  • 2,080-hour utilization

  • direct overhead vs. true SG&A

  • not factoring in near-term planned staffing changes (most cost rates are based on a snapshot of last year's staffing)

  • "direct" technology costs
