Pricing rates should be based on a combination of benchmarking, cost of sales, profit margin targets, and business circumstances. Pricing without benchmarking often leaves money on the table, or creates a competitive disadvantage. Knowing your cost basis and margin target applies discipline on your pricing decisions. Business circumstances put everything in context and allow you to break the rules when the rules lead you to bad decisions.
